We’re proud to announce that we are celebrating our 4th birthday in May! This year, we are producing two special programs and, to make them possible, are doing a private fundraising effort through our close colleagues, collectors, friends, and family.

DORF is an artist-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit with (at this point) a very small team. We have used our space and programming as an advocacy platform for social change, and an exhibition and gathering space for Austin- and Texas-based artists and community. We have received recognition in publications like Texas Monthly, Sightlines Magazine, The Austin Chronicle, Glasstire, Southwest Contemporary, and many more, and received “Best New Experimental Art Gallery” in The Austin Chronicle.
Since 2018 we have given a platform and space to over 80 artists and produced three performances, a video shorts screening, a poetry reading, two live mural paintings, two live screen printing offerings, and three silent auction benefits. We have distributed over $18K in artist stipends and raised over $15K for local non-profit advocacy organizations. In 2022 we are continuing our socially engaging exhibitions and programming, increasing our organizational capacity–and have exciting news to share in the coming months regarding our future!

Volya: A SIlent Auction and Cultural Exhibition to Benefit Ukraine -
On May 14, 2022, DORF and partners Austin TX UKRAINIANS present a 25+ artist show, silent auction, and cultural exhibition. Proceeds will benefit aid organizations doing on-the-ground work in Ukraine.
In addition to the auction, Ukrainian artists will offer open-to-the-public arts and culture activities for individuals and families at DORF throughout the day. Visitors will be greeted by traditional Ukrainian music, food, drink, crafts, and textiles including doll-making (motanka) and egg painting (pysanky) workshops for kids and adults. There will, of course, be local vodka on hand and a feeling of camaraderie and support that can only come when communities build bridges through culture.
The auction will take place virtually and conclude alongside our Saturday, May 14, 2022, festivities. Winning bidders will be announced at 9:00 pm. This is going to be a really special experience fueled by passion, family, and community outrage against a centuries-old and ongoing human rights crisis. We hope you will join us!
Let Us Vote - An Austin- and Central-Texas community-based arts initiative to encourage voter participation in the 2022 midterms. This Let Us Vote mural project will engage three to five local and regional artists. We will partner with MOVE Texas and other voter rights organizations and community partners to promote fair elections, encourage voter participation, and educate voters about elections and their voting rights. Selected artists will create murals that depict the importance of using our voices to vote in the upcoming midterms. This project will culminate in a public mural tour. Artists, organizers, food trucks, and participatory art projects will activate the tour adding vitality to each mural site. Each location will offer on-site voter registration, information, resources, and pop-up markets with food, drink, and voting-themed merch.

In 2021, through grants and individual donations, DORF distributed over $18K from its Artist Stipend Fund directly to artists. This Fund ensures that all artists showing at DORF are paid for their work. DORF remains committed to wage equity and we are currently becoming W.A.G.E. Certified, a national program whose mission is to establish sustainable economic relationships between artists and the institutions that contract our labor, and to introduce mechanisms for self-regulation into the art field that collectively bring about a more equitable distribution of its economy. This generous donation will be used to pay our creative community for their hard work and ideas.

Your donation will pay for a working Austin artist to complete a Let Us Vote mural at DORF and other TBD prominent locations within Austin-proper or at strategic locations outside of Austin.
