In 2018, the State of Texas put 13 people to death, accounting for more than half of the 25 U.S. executions.
DORF announces REMEDY, a silent auction and group exhibition of work by inmates on death row in Texas. Hosted by the University of Texas literary journal Bat City Review, the event will take place Thursday April 4, 7-10pm with a poetry reading at 8pm. The silent auction will end at 9pm promptly.
This event weaves together a wide range of Austin communities working towards a common cause: Bat City Review; current and former students from the University of Texas School of Law’s Capital Punishment Clinic; local poets, writers, zine-makers; and locally sponsored food and drink. This event is made possible by the generosity and social dedication of our city. Street parking will be limited so please consider rideshare travel if possible.
The Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty is the only professionally staffed, statewide grassroots advocacy organization dedicated solely to ending the death penalty in Texas.
